Two Anime Characters in One Tattoo: Plan the Relationship First

Two favorite anime characters do not automatically make one clear tattoo. Their expressions and positions need to explain why they share the image. Choose the version of each character you want, then decide whether one should be more prominent.

Should the characters be the same size?

Equal size can create a balanced pair, while different scales can make one portrait the main subject. Neither choice automatically communicates the relationship you want. The expressions, direction of the faces and surrounding shapes also matter.

Which identifying details should stay?

Background effects should connect the portraits or separate them intentionally. Flames, clouds or lines added simply to fill space may obscure the features that make the characters recognizable. Discuss what should remain open between the faces.

When there is not room for two faces

A second character needs room for another face and for the shapes connecting the pair. If the proposed area is limited, a single character with one supporting reference may express the idea more clearly than two equally detailed heads.
